USTA ratings are NOT required to play Marin League

Question:

Do USTA ratings provide a rule of thumb in terms of level of players for each section?

Answer:

The quick answer to this question is no! Marin League does not encourage or require members to have a USTA rating in order to play at any level in the League. However it is conceivable that captains/tennis directors might use USTA ratings, along with other tools to help determine the playing ability of a potential team member. The league does not involve itself in such decision making. However in the case where blatant "sandbagging" occurs, the league reserves the right to intervene.
